"doh on!"

This evening when I put E to bed...

E (pointing at the hallway): "On!"
Me: "Do you want the light on?"
E (nodding head): "On!"

I get up and turn on the light and then close his door almost all the way, then go back to say goodnight.

E: "On!"
Me: "The light is on."
E (pointing to the door): "Doh on!"
Me: "Door open? You want the door open?"

He used his words! And put two of them together on his own without any prompting! Yes!!!! YOU ROCK, E!

Here we go again

Seems like there's always something going on with E and his sleep habits. This one is our fault, but not entirely.

Last year we worked really hard on getting E to fall asleep on his own. We had our moments but would always go back to letting him sleep on his own at night.

This spring, my mom started rocking E to sleep for naps while she watched him and we kept putting him down awake in the weekends. Well, over the summer while I was home and huge and hoping that he would wean, I started rocking him too because he wouldn't ask to nurse when I did that.

Fast forward to now.

E can't be rocked every day when I'm alone with G or if my mom is alone with him when I go back to work. Hencce, we have begun. "sleep training" for naps again. Today was day three. Day one went well, no crying. Day two contained many tears. Day three had some tears, a couple screams, and resulted in not falling asleep until my mom took him for a ride.

I hate doing this.

welcome back, daddy-o

P went out of town this weekend with some friends on a camping trip. He comes home today and I'm extremely excited! (I haven't been alone though...my awesome mom has been here helping out. Yep. I'm spoiled.)

Anyway, P has been the one to put E down for bed for at least the last two months. I was a bit nervous as to how it would all turn out, and I'm pleased to say that it was great! Poor P will probably be upset be how well it went!

For the past couple of weeks, E has been rather challenging to put down. He keeps coming out of his room, wanting to get his back scratched, wanting a change of diaper, and wanting to get cool air blown on his chest. In the middle of the night, he's been coming into our room and P goes to put him in bed again - this happens about 2 times, at least.

Friday night, gave E his bath, brushed his teeth with ease, put him to bed without nursing (he didn't even ask!), scratched his back for 10 seconds, kissed him goodnight, and left the room. He went to bed and stayed in his bed all night. Never came out. Not even once. Last night, E came out once after putting him down, but fell asleep right after I left.

Let's hope that daddy-o gets to experience this tonight while mommy goes out with some friends!

Whoops

4:30 am - wake up call from E, nurse in bed, falls asleep in bed, I go pee, he takes up my side, try to sleep, now...
5:15 am - G starts stirring, I can't sleep, keep checking on G, E still on my side, I lay where my feet should be, now...
5:30 am - G wakes, go to his room, change diaper, nurse, now...
5:55 am- E wakes up, calls for momma, momma still nursing, trying to get G to sleep again, now...
6:10 am - daddy gets up with E, I put down G, try to get sleep, zzzzzz, now...
7:20 am - daddy asks if I'm ok while holding G, I ask how long he's been awake, daddy says, " don't know, but when I came in from taking E outside he was screaming his head off"

Whoops.

Guess momma was tired. Didn't. Hear. A. Sound.

Whoops.

On a lighter note, I can put my wedding ring back on! (can't take it off, but at least it's on!)

G is one month!

Yowza! Where does time go?

G is now one month old! What a cool one month birthday, too. It goes so well with this song.

Little guy isn't up to much...just eating (a lot), sleeping (a lot), peeing (a lot), and pooing (not a lot).

My overactive milk ejection reflex causes much pain in his little body. There are times, especially at night, where he will just scream and arch his back until he gives up and falls asleep. It's rather sad to see and I feel helpless. The doctor gave us a prescription for medication as a "just in case we want to use it as needed". I'm willing to hold on to it, but I'd like to see what else I can do before I use it. I did buy some Little Tummys gas drops to see if that helps. I've also cut down dairy and have found a love of vanilla almond milk. YUM!

He sleeps almost all day and night. He is up for about an hour and a half to two hours in the morning, naps around 9 until 12, eats briefly, sleeps until about 2:30/3, eats some more, is awake for a while, then sleeps again. He goes down for the night between 7 & 8, wakes around 10:30, then again around 2, and 5. Repeat. (Today Momma was lucky. G fells asleep at noon, E fell asleep at noon, I fell asleep at noon. I awoke at 2, E awoke at 2:30, G awoke at 2:45. YES for naps!)

G is doing well holding up his head. He hasn't gotten much tummy time because he is sleeping all the time, but we do put him on our chest and he gets it that way. He will track objects with his eyes and will let a smile out every once in a while. G does smile often when he is asleep.

E made G his first fort.
He's pretty strong, too. We will find him with an arm or two out of his swaddle if it's not tight enough.

G had his first vaccine today at his doctor's appointment. He was nursing when it happened, let out a yelp and some loud cries, but nursed right away again. The doctor also suggested that we supplement G with vitamin d. One month stats are as follows:

weight: 10 lbs., 10 oz.
height: 21 3/4"

And the moment you've been waiting for...

end of my rope

I need some serious help!

Sweet E wakes up between 5:00 and 5:30 EVERYDAY. Paul tries to get him back to sleep and ends up unsuccessful most of the time. E will scream bloody murder for me until Paul brings him to me. I've even tried getting him back to sleep and I'm never successful.

Bedtime doesn't seem to matter. Early to bed (7:00) or later to bed (8:30) he still wakes early. His bedtime and naps are consistent as far as times. But some days he will nap for an hour, somedays 2, and rarely 2.5 or close to three. That doesn't affect it either.

We don't feed him before six a.m., and even then he doesn't eat but a few nibbles. What he does want is mommy milk.

We've tried changing the temp in his room, making sure he gas a full tummy, darkening shades. Nothing.

I hate to think that this is just his body clock wake up time because for a while this summer he was waking around 6:30.

What makes to more difficult for me is adding G-unit to the mix. He's been waking for a feeding around 4:30 or 5, by the time he's done, E wakes up. I'm getting doubly drained, physically and emotionally. This morning I just started crying.

Help!!
