Sticker Fun

Grayson was having some sticker fun today. He decided to put the baby penguin on the mother while saying "Mommy milk".

Mommy milk ending soon?

Me: "Grayson, when will you stop having Mommy milk?"

G: "When I big boy."

Me: "Hold old will you be when you're a 'big boy'?"

G: "Um...twenty."

Oh brother!

Can't get enough!

Seriously. E is blowing my mind. 

While reading Froggy Bakes a Cake: 

"How come sometimes it [and] starts with a capital and sometimes with a lowercase?"

"How about I read 'and' every time we get to it?"

Ok, little guy. 

Learning Curve

I'm amazed every day that E comes home from school with what he brings in his bag. Each day there are art projects, crafts, poems, letter practice, number practice, or some other cool thing that he has done. 

Not only does he being things home, but he has wants all of us to share how our our days went with each other at the dinner table. E loves to share what he's learned or what projects their working on. Currently there are chicks waiting to hatch in the playroom, chrysalis in their classroom, they are growing seeds in I've cream cones (which apparently aren't growing too well due to lack of soil, water or light!), and a fish. They're working on learning about clouds and rainbows as well as learning about Easter.

He has been so much more into writing and reading this half of the school year, and sharing what happens each day. It's pretty amazing to see the growth he has made. I am forever endebtted to is teachers. 

T-Ball 2014

A new season of sports has begun! Last fall, e played soccer through the YMCA, but we have been a little disappointed with the coaches we had been getting lately.

This time, we decided to have him join up with i9 Sports. He had his first practice this past Saturday and we are much happier about the choice we made!

E's team name is the Dinosaurs! He was given a reversible jersey and hat, which he loves! 

The coach he has, Coach Kay, is very patient and give the kids a lot of instruction. The first 30 minutes is a practice with parent participation. The second 30 minutes is a game against another team.

Each player gets a chance to hit and advance a base at a time with the last player hitting a "Grand Slam". Then the teams switch and practice defense.

E also wanted to play first base which took Paul and I by surprise considering he had to wear a special helmet with a face guard!

E had a blast and G wishes he could join in. (Next year, kiddo!)

Constable Wedding!

On March 32, we had the honor of witnessing Paul's sister, Brighid, marry Adam. Now he's an official Uncle to the boys!

All of us were in the wedding; I was a bridesmaid, Paul was a groomsman, and the boys were ring bearers. 

I was able to spend the morning hanging out with "the girls". We had mimosas and bagels while we had our hair and make up done. 

Since one of Adam's sisters ended up being very sick that day, Brighid asked if I wanted to join some of the other members of the bridal party and their friends on the limo. Of course I tagged along! (Although I felt bad that Paul was at home with the boys trying to get them down for naps to have them at the ceremony site on time!)

The wedding was very casual and beautiful. Brighid looked so stunning!  

The boys did well as ring bearers too. G didn't want to walk down with his brother and cousin, so Paul and I held his hands as he walked down the aisle with us.

Of course, it didn't go smoothly. Halfway down, G's shoe fell off an we had to pick it up. As I got the shoe, Paul tried to pick up G to hold him, but he started shouting, "No! Mommy!"  Everyone had a chuckle, including us.

E did so well holding on to the rings and pillow with his cousin and watching the ceremony patiently. I was so proud of him!

They both had a blast dancing the night away and did't want to go home. E had this really great dance move where he's kick his legs, than take off a hat he was wearing and spin it around. He'd then put the hat back on his head and start over.

G wanted to dance immediately after the first dance while everyone else was eating dinner. The DJ even changed the music so that G and the rest of the kids that joined him, could dance! It was pretty adorable!

By 9:00, it was time to take the boys home. My sister was also at the wedding, so she took them home so my parents could watch them. Paul an do stayed until the wedding ended and slept at a hotel near the reception site.

We had so much fun and it was great to see the rest of the Hallinan side of Paul's family! Congrats to Brighid and Adam!

Reader

E has been making some great gains lately. For the past several weeks, I've been checking his reading skills while we read books, play, and draw/write. 

He can read words with short vowel sounds, including words with consonant blends. He's been much more into writing and wanting to know how to spell words. It's pretty amazing to see that in you're own child.

G is also very much into reading and writing. He reads the first two pages of Snowy Day word for word. If he doesn't want to read a book with us, he'll take it on his own and read it out loud to us.

G will also draw and have an elaborate description of what it is! Just yesterday he was drawing train tracks, trains, and coal tenders. They looked like scribbles to me!

Both of the boys love to paint and use sidewalk chalk on the driveway. We will fill up the entire driveway in a matter of minutes!
