Fourteen Months

Well considering that I'm WAY behind in posting, I guess starting here would be the best place to begin.

Our little man turned 14 months old on Aug. 18th. He's now faster than ever, taller than ever, and more eager than ever to do things.

Evan now:
-picks up everything and anything that he can (or can't) carry

-still nurses first thing in the morning, before bed, and here and there throughout the day when I'm home
-spent his first weekend alone with Grandma(s) and Grandpa
-loves eating cheese, yogurt, bananas, spinach, sweet potatoes, carrots, chicken sausage, and any berries

-sweats all day from running around nonstop
-sleeps from around 6:30/7pm to 4am, nurses, and falls asleep for just a bit longer
-takes two naps a day lasting 1-1.5 hours each
-talks all the time (but still not saying any words)
-loves to say dadadadada
-enjoys going into the backyard to look at the fake turtle and frog, as well as the garden hose
-drags his diaper bag to the front door and points to his sunhat (that's the sign that he gives when he wants to go out for a walk)
-gives us directions (points me to the sofa when he wants me to nurse him, points to the rocking chair when he wants us to sit down)
-still loves chasing our dog, Layne
-can stack 4 blocks
-tries to put the correct block into it's proper hole (shapes into the bucket)
-loves to point out the black cat in his "colors" book
-loves reading in the morning when Mama and Dada don't want to get up quite yet

-points to everything and says "uh, uh"
-identifies people/objects when directed
-has ridden the train at Chandler mall (thanks to my parents)
-went down the slide at the Phoenix Children's Museum (to which we now have a membership)

-likes to take pictures on our camera
-points the remote to the tv and ceiling fan

-follows commands (to a point!)
-dances and claps like no other!
-loves, loves, loves playing with his daddy
-still loves carrying something in his hands (e.g. toothbrush, comb, paper, toys, plastic food containers)
-loves to put his hands down his pants...such a boy
-likes to stand in the bath and try to turn on the water
-enjoys using the Swiffer around the house

-drools constantly
-finally has his fourth bottom tooth!
-mimics actions (today he watered out house plant after I did)

-gives the best smiles, laughs, hugs, and kisses!

because I have to

I feel as though I will explode if I don't post these photos. In fact, there really is nothing that "special" about them. They are from my phone, but they are the only recent photos that I have to post. With work and my computer both keeping me from truly blogging, these photos are all I can do for now.
Messy eater!
Evan thought that it would be a great idea to not nap one afternoon. On our way to the store, this happened...
and then he looked like this.
Go DEVILS!
Sweetie pie face!

Finally!

Although my computer is still "ca-put", my very wonderful and amazingly fabulous husband has transferring my pictures and videos to his computer. (He's been working on it the past several nights and researching what's wrong with my computer.) I was looking for some to post, but not all of the images have been moved. :( Guess I'll have to continue waiting patiently.

shoes

Evan tried to put his own shoes on today. So stinkin' cute!

Oh how I miss my computer.

Evan is teething again. His bottom left tooth is finally appearing so he'll now have all four lower teeth. I also think he has some of his back teeth and upper teeth coming in. He loves when we give him teething gel.

Poor little guy still has chapped lips. We're making sure that he's getting plenty of fluids and we are putting lanolin on his lips. He makes a cute smacking sound once it's on. I think he's trying to eat it.

At dinner tonight he started chatting and chatting. I recorded it on my camera and sent it to my dad. (He has been on tour as the souvie guy with the Academy drum and bugle corps since mid-June and hasn't seen Evan since.)

Today after his bath, I combed his hair (as usual). After putting his brush down, he reached for it, brought it to his head, and started brushing his own hair. It was adorable. It was one of those moments that you don't want to end. All I could do was smile.

I need to post videos and photos. It's driving me crazy.

shtuff

It seems as thought my posts have been revolving around sleep lately, so this one will deviate from that topic.

1. E's lips are chapped. His top lip s peeling and the bottom left corner of his lower lip is also. I think its from the fact that his fingers are always in his mouth and they rub against his lips. Not to mention that salive comes pouring out because he is teething. The lower left incisor is finally coming in!

2. Speaking of chapped lips...I put some lanolin on E's lips after his bath this evening. He then took the closed tube from me, put his fingers to it, then touched his fingers to his mouth. He was motioning putting it on! I couldn't help but laugh. It was adorable! Not only did he do it, but he continued to repeat the motion over and over again. Such a smart little boy!

3. We took our first trip to the children's museum in Phoenix. Evan had such a blast with his cousins, Mara and Ben. It was our first trip there. Evan really enjoyed the blocks, pots and pans in the kitchen area, pushing buttons, and playing with puzzle pieces. As Paul said, "Pretty much everything he can do here."

While we were there Evan walked up to another mom with her back to him and grabbed her leg, thinking it was me. I was following him as he headed towards her. She looked down in his direction and he just stared at her. You could tell that he was thinking, "you're not my mom, you're Asian." I called his name and, surprisingly, he didn't cry or freak out. I think he was more confused. Poor guy!

We had a great weekend together! Now its back to work.
