school

E is going to start school tomorrow. He will be attending a local toddler/parent class once a week for two hours. I'm very excited that he will have the chance to experience being around other kids and do some educational learning in there too.

I know that he will have a blast with my mom, who will be taking him each week. However, I must say that I'm a bit sad that I won't be the one there with him. During bath time tonight, I was talking to E about his new school and how much fun he was going to have. He'd get the chance to make friends, too. Then I started crying because I wasn't going to be the one seeing him experience it all.

I'm going to be a mess when he goes to kindergarten.

I spent the day at my parents house today. I put E down for a nap and he was woken up prematurely by a baking dish that shattered. I went in to calm him down and he laid his head on my shoulders. After a few minutes, we wiggled down to lay in my arms. He pointed to the bed and I laid down with him. I nursed him to sleep. I stroked his back, and legs, and hair. I thought about how much I'm going to miss this moment some day. The folds in his wrist, the dimples on his hands, his cheeks moving as he nurses just the slightest bit. I started to cry while I lay there with him. Oh, how I don't want him to grow....

My child ADORES going to the park. He specifically loves the swings. In fact, he cries when we leave the park. My parents decided to get E a play set for our backyard and we are SO very thankful that they gave this to him as a gift.

After one and a half days of hard work from my dad, Paul, and a bit from me and E, we started here...

Now we don't have tears when we leave the park, but we do have tears when we leave the backyard.

Valentine's Day

Paul and I were lucky enough to spend Valentine's Day evening together at home. We made a delicious dinner together consisting of bruschetta, filet mignon and garlic frites, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. I couldn't have asked for a better evening. E signed a card for Paul with crayon and it was adorable. I should've taken a picture.

i don't understand

How some days Evan falls asleep happily playing in his bed (or quietly). But today, it took over an hour of crying, fussing, tears, and several attempts of trying to calm and settle him down. I hope he's not getting sick. Breaks my heart.

six fun facts

1. E has become quite the imitator recently. He has started watching Barney downloads from Netflix on our Roku player. As much as I can't stand the Barney theme song, E really enjoys it. He loves watching the kids sing the "Wheels on the Bus" and will do the hand gestures and jumps up and down for the "people on the bus" line. He will throw his arms up during the pizza tossing scene, pretends to lasso by throwing his arms back and forth while saying "whshhh", and raises his arm and makes elephant noises during the circus scene. Its quite hilarious!

2. Paul and I bought him a teeball set, too. E swings with all his might, can hit the ball, and is actually batting as a lefty!

3. E is into the Sesame Street alphabet DVD we have. He likes to listen to the alphabet songs that are on it.

4. We noticed that E enjoys playign witht the Little Tykes 'cozy coupe' that some of our friends have at their houses. We bought him one and now it is one of his favortie places to play. In fact, while at a friend's child's birthday party laat weekend, E was sitting in the car and another child climbed into the car and sat on E. Paul and I found it hilarious (because the other child is about 14 months old) and E's face was priceless. He looked at us as though he was so confused that this baby was sitting on him. E tried to climb out the other side of the car!

5. E attempts to point and count when we count things in books and with items around the house.

6. For Christmas, Aunt Emma and Uncle Jason bought E a large alphabet mat. E can point out the E, M, G, A, and D.
