Fun with My Boys

Paul has been out of town since Thursday evening on a cabin trip with several of his friends. I took the day off yesterday too since my parents were also going out of town.

To be honest, I was a little nervous to spend these three days with them by myself. I know it sounds odd, but truthfully, the thought of putting them to bed at night by myself was what I was most concerned about doing.

I've been pretty spoiled. Paul is usually home by the time the kids go to bed, so I've always had someone around, at least to rescue me at some point in the evening if there is an issue with bedtime.

So far we've done ok. I figured out that I can keep E occupied in his room playing Legos quietly and yes, even playing on the iPad. It lets me get to nurse G and have him fall asleep. Then I can focus on getting E to sleep too.

We've also had fun just hanging out. Yesterday we went to the train park. Today we had E's tball and my sister was kind enough to join us so that G could play with her while I was with E.

We also had an impromptu photo shoot!

Mommy Gifts

After attending school with E today I had to go back to work. When I came home, we took a look at the things he had made me.

One was a card with a cute question/answer page and another was a butterfly.

On Monday, he asked me to bring him something I made him at my school. I was finally able to remember so I brought him something I made. His response, "I love it, mommy! I just love it!"

My Gal and Me

Today at E's preschool was My Gal and Me day. I left work to meet E at school and when I arrived, he was clapping and jumping in excitement when he saw my car pull in.

I love when I can take some time off of work and see E in his own place of learning. It was so fun being there.

We played with trains, I had to paint my hand for a handprint, they sang us You Are My Sunshine, we ate donuts, made cases out of clay and fake flowers, and played with Little People.

The joys of parenting

Yesterday's "I'm the worst mom in the world for working out of my home" moment: Evan crying for the 3rd day (out of 4) when my mom has left at the end of the day. When I asked him what Grandma does that I don't, he says, "Grandma plays with me and all you do is make dinner."

Today's "I'm the luckiest mom in the world" moment: at the dinner table I was asking Evan questions. I asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up. He thought about it, then said, "I want to be like you!"

Bunnytown

At bedtime tonight:

E: "Do bunnies live under ground?"

Me: "Yeah, some bunnies do. They live in burrows and dens."

E: "I think they live underground in bunny towns. And the have carrot cars to ride."

Me: "That sounds pretty great. I'd like to. visit bunny town."
