Make room for baby!
Paul and I found out on Oct. 23 that we are expecting a baby on June 13, 2009! We had our second doctor's appointment today, and after seeing the baby doing well with a strong heartbeat we thought we'd share our news. (Some of our close family and friends have known for a few weeks though!)
I'm currently 11 weeks and here's a picture of my tummy. (Personally, I feel like I'm already showing...but I'm pretty sure it's just me being bloated and having had eaten a giant burrito before this picture. You can also see the band aid from my flu shot.)

So for those of you that want to know the story...
I've been charting my cycles since April 2007 when Paul and I had to attend our Natural Family Planning classes for the church. We just chose to keep it going. This past September, my cycle was different, strange even. I wasn't getting the same symptoms that I normally did. Then it hit...another temperature rise. It just so happened that I got sick that weekend as well. Six days after having high temperatures, Paul and I were eating Pei Wei when I decided to take a home pregnancy test. It came out a very light positive.

That Monday I went to the doctor. No luck there. The nurse thought that it might be too soon, so we scheduled an appointment for two weeks. If my period came all I had to do was cancel. But being me, I couldn't wait that long. The next day I took another test. Positive. A week later - same thing. And a week after that - another positive.

So four tests later we arrived at the doctors for my appointment. The nurse confirmed my previous tests and we were then able to get an trans-vaginal ultrasound. We were able to even hear the heartbeat and I was only 6 weeks and 6 days! This is what we saw...

Today was our second appointment. I've gained 4 pounds! Apparently that's a good thing! I also had some blood work done. Here's what we got to see on the ultrasound machine...

Just after we stared trying, I was contacted by the website TheBump.com to be a feature couple that was trying to conceive. Here is a link to our article!

How time flies
I can't believe that it's been almost a month since I have last posted. That's pathetic. Although, I must admit that there have been reasons as to my absence.
I started my next masters class recently and it's giving me a headache already. I was planning to have my degree finished by next December, but as of now, it looks like it will be taking longer.
Work for me has been hectic. Being in a new school and new district often makes me feel like a first year teachers. It's always hard getting to a place that is out of your comfort level. But now, I'm starting to get myself to where I wanted to be.
Now that it is October, another winterguard season is under way. There go my weekends!!
Paul finished up his last masters course last week! Congrats to hil! It's been a long and torturous journey for him. I am extremely proud of all the work he has done to get where he is now!
Work for Paul is going well too. He's now an in-charge there which means he is the lead on many of their engagements. He has to go through and check what the staff auditors are doing to make sure it's correct, then send it on to the managers and partners. It's definitely more work, but I think he enjoys it. (At least I hope he does!)
Anyway, that's about it for now. I'll try to get on here as much as I can!

Opening presents
We celebrated Layne's birthday once Paul got home from work. He's a very lucky puppy! Layne received several toys, of which he LOVES a sheep that "baa's" when he bites it. (He even takes it outside with him!) Here are some pictures that I took of him opening his presents!

Looking inside to see what there is...

Once Layne realized that the sheep made noise, he started to whimper every time it did so.
You can hear him and the sheep in this video.
